About

Who am I?

I’m Jax Blunt. I blog most often at Making it up, which goes back nearly 10 years, so if you want to find out all about me, start at the beginning and read it. Not got time for that? OK. I’m an ex programmer, ex montessori teacher now working from home around the home education of four children, ranging in age from 11 months to 13 years. So, when I call myself a geek, I’m talking about getting down and dirty in the code – I even have Sun Java certification 😉 Working from home mainly consists of doing sales, PR and some tech support for our wordpress web hosting business over at Colneis although I do also earn some money from blogging and stuff from social media. Yes, I spend too much time on twitter. I like it there.

What’s this all about?

We love our house. We love where it is – within walking distance of library, shops, woodland, playgrounds, beach and leisure centre. But it’s not really big enough. It was a bit cosy with the four of us who moved in, it’s a squash with the six of us there are now. Instead of moving (which would mean finding around £150,000 to upgrade and not being able to find a house nearly as well placed as this one) we’d like to quite literally raise the roof, putting another floor on the house which would comfortably fit in four bedrooms and a bathroom up there. The amount we think we’d need is £100,000 so that’s what I’m aiming to raise, and document here along the way.

If you enjoy what I’m writing about, please feel free to sign up to get posts emailed to you so you don’t miss a word – there should be plenty of money saving and raising tips along the way.

Thanks for stopping by.
